GDHA is YOUR resource for the most up-to-date information impacting dental hygienists in Georgia.
ABOUT GDHA

The Georgia Dental Hygienists’ Association (GDHA) proudly represents over 7,000 dental hygienists in Georgia. GDHA is part of the American Dental  Hygienists Association tripartite structure and all GDHA members are ADHA members as well as members of their local components.

Members receive up-to-date information about emerging technologies, insights into clinical practice, opportunities to establish and network with their peers, and timely alerts on legislative developments affecting the practice of dental hygiene in Georgia.

GDHA HISTORY

In 2023, GDHA will be celebrating our 94th Anniversary!

The Georgia Dental Hygienists' Association (GDHA) was formed in 1929 to develop communication and mutual cooperation among dental hygienists in Georgia. We are proud to represent the professional interests of the more than 7,000 registered dental hygienists (RDHs) in the state.

In 2018, GDHA requested the Georgia Board of Dentistry (BOD) authorize dental hygienists to provide “chair-side screening for dysglycemia via finger-stick glucose testing under the direct supervision of their dentist, which the Board unanimously approved!

In 2017, GA passed HB 154 which allows the public to directly access the oral health services of dental hygienists who are now able to practice under the general supervision of a licensed dentist in certain settings.
