President's Message

nancy demott gdha presidentGreetings to you from the Georgia Dental Hygienists Association
and its Board of Trustees.

It is an honor to serve you as your President this year and it is a task I do not take lightly. I am charged with representing your association and in turn representing you, Georgia’s dental hygienists.

All of us symbolize the "Hands of Dental Hygiene"” and so, as my theme for my term as President of the GDHA suggests, all of us act as a dynamic part of the Dental Hygiene profession. Whether you are a clinical dental hygienist, an educator, a student, or work within public health or research, you are a vital part of this profession.

Consider what you can do to connect yourself with GDHA. Maybe you could volunteer in a service project in your community. We can have the public and community see us in action. Let’s show them what we do and what an important part we play in helping them achieve better overall health. I guarantee you will get more out of it then you put in.

You could work within your local component or at the state level as we move to bring GDHA to more areas in Georgia. How can you spur one another on? Support and cheer for one another. Professionally, that can work both ways for you!! You cannot just "cruise through" a relationship. You have to work at it. If you want to make a difference you have to cultivate it. So what we need for our personal well being, we need to spill over to our professional lives. We are only your organization if you are a part of it….JOIN, PARTICIPATE, BENEFIT, and SUCCEED.

A recent quote from our current ADHA President Pamela Quinones... "ADHA recognizes that each day our members do so much more than just "clean teeth". Each of you is a Champion of oral health in whatever capacity you practice, and you should be proud of that distinction! All of us need to spread this message and reach out to other hygienists in our communities because, collectively, we can achieve so much more than any of us can achieve alone. We truly are better together!"
