Instructor/Clinical Coordinator-Dental Hygiene
Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks an Instructor/Clinical Coordinator- Dental Hygiene.

The Instructor is responsible for implementing all aspects of didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching in Dental Hygiene clinical and related courses as needed, coordinating second year clinics, maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, curriculum development, student advising, and supporting the College and Dental Hygiene mission and initiatives. The Instructor must be knowledgeable of current technologies in clinic and appropriate to the area of instruction.

Minimum Qualifications
Registered Dental Hygienist with a Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Must have three years clinical experience and experience in education is preferred. Three of the past seven years of employment must be in clinical experience and/or education.

Licensed as a registered hygienist in the State of Georgia, or be eligible for licensure.

Candidate must be familiar with ADA Accreditation standards/guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related field preferred.

Establish and increase sales of Elevate Oral Care products through a consultative selling and educational approach into dental offices within an assigned zip code territory.

Nature of Scope:
Elevate Oral Care (EOC) is seeking a part time sales consultant to develop, manage and maintain a customer base in an assigned territory. This initial part-time (3 days per week) selling position can and should lead to full-time opportunities in the assigned territories when performance goals are met.

This position is expected to establish, maintain and develop customer accounts resulting in increasing sales in an assigned zip code territory. Achieve maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the companys products. Nature of Duties:  Under general supervision prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives; evaluates students progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests; maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences; ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area; meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students instructional programs and other issues; assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Teaches dental assisting courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of dental assisting; establishes, measures, and evaluates program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success. Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Position may require committee and project assignments or other duties as assigned as well as day/evening/dual enrollment/distance learning classes and activities. This position works with dual enrolled (high school) and traditional students.

Minimum Qualifications: (candidates must meet all minimum qualifications to be considered)

  • Dental Assisting Diploma from an approved accredited institution
  • Valid Licensure/Certification (DANB, CDA or other nationally recognized dental assisting certifications). Candidate will be required to complete required certifications within 90 days as a condition of employment.
  • Extensive in-field experience
  • Valid Driver s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of expanded duties in Dental Assisting
  • Post-secondary teaching experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene from a regionally accredited college or university, and a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Current GA Dental Hygiene license in good standing. Three years work experience within the last seven years as a dental hygienist. Must demonstrate competencies in specific course content.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum):
Advanced degree; teaching experience in a classroom and/or online setting; more than 3 years work experience within the last 7 years as a dental hygienist.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, and juggle multiple & competing priorities
  • Ability to participate in appropriate staff development and campus activities
  • Ability to supervise students in the classroom and clinic
  • Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans, and select appropriate textbooks
  • Ability to direct and assess students' progress in achieving required competencies
  • Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses and Clinic Coordinator duties, data collection, & reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude and professional attire
