GDHA Future Leader Award: CALL FOR ENTRIES

This award was created to recognize dental hygienists who exhibit a strong commitment to the dental hygiene profession and have demonstrated leadership in the Georgia Dental Hygienists’ Association on the constituent and/or component level within five years of graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.

The Council on Membership will review all applications. The judging will be completely competitive. The application judged most deserving, compared directly to the other nominees, will receive the award.

The deadline for all nominations and applications is October 1, 2011 for 2012. Applications will be accepted from graduates 2006 thru 2012.

  To be eligible for nomination, THE NOMINEE MUST:
  • Be a current active member of ADHA and have continuous active membership since graduation.
  • Have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program within the last five years.
  • Have been a GADHAS member while enrolled in a dental hygiene program.
  • Be nominated by a local component.
  • Complete the nominee application and essaypdf
The Award Recipient will Receive:
  • ADHA Membership Dues
  • Recognition at GDHA Annual Session
  • GDHA Future Leader Certificate

 


ADHA Institute for Oral Health and the Wm. Wrigley, Jr. Company Foundation
Again Offering Community Service Grants - DEADLINE NOV 1st, 2011 Learn More

Did you see the September/October issue of Access magazine providing you with insight into how last year’s grant recipients used these funds to help create innovative community service projects to advance oral health? Be sure not to miss this opportunity as the ADHA Institute for Oral Health has once again partnered with the Wrigley Company Foundation to offer the members of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) the opportunity to apply for community service grants to coincide with National Dental Hygiene Month. Funding through this grant program will provide member hygienists’ the necessary monies to either start or continue an existing community service program within their respective communities.

The Wrigley Company Foundation will be giving up to $60,000 in Community Service
Grants, in the amount of $2,500 and $5,000 per grantee, to applicants who are involved in a specific community health project. Applicants will need to demonstrate that the project is in harmony with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) Institute for Oral Health mission and vision. The community service project should demonstrate its capacity to improve the public’s oral health and provide oral health education to underserved populations throughout the United States.

Dental Hygiene Clinical Re-Entry Course
Dates: December 5-9, 2011 AND June 4-8, 2012
This course is designed for dental hygienists who have been out of the field for several years.

ATTENTION RECENT GRADS: Notice about ADHA/GDHA Membership
New GADHAS (Georgia American Dental Hygienists' Association Student) graduates need to contact ADHA at 1-800-243-2342 with their license number to be added to constituent and component rosters. They will then be active members until December, after which they will be billed at the regular active member rate.
